HI all,
It has become very apparent recently that ED docs are using the “assessment time box” on the ED factsheet differently…
Should it be ” time we physically see patient”?
or ” time we know about patient”?
or “time we know about patient if we are giving orders on patient”?
I think we should all use the box the SAME for a variety of reasons…including capturing ED times ( PIA times), data for use in chart audits and MQA review to name three.
Does anyone have strong opinions about how we should use??
I have always used it for ” time I physically see the patient” to let you know what I do.
I am not saying this is right or best….
Please way in or I could put out a doodle poll?
thanks
John
I use it for when I’m aware of the patient and order anything to be done. Such as a soft CTAS 2 chest pain when I review the ECG and order the labs. I also do it with CTAS 2 mental health patients who are cooperative, when I order the labs and ask CMH to come and see them.
Otherwise, I use it as soon as I pick up the chart and start reviewing their past histories and old charts, available labs, etc.
